Emmanuel International

InAfrica the early 1970′s, famine gripped Ethiopia, and missionaries George & Dorothy Middleton gave leadership to relief efforts.  After returning to Canada, in 1975 they founded Emmanuel International, with the goal of mobilizing Western people and resources to serve the Third World poor.  One essential principle: resources would always be shared in partnership with, and in service to, the national church in each program country.

Since that time, Emmanuel International has helped millions of needy people.  At the same time, it has encouraged countless Third World churches, organizations, and leaders, whom the Lord has called to be “salt and light” among their own people.

EI Small LogoEmmanuel International is a global family, with AFFILIATED OFFICES in Canada, USA, the United Kingdom, Australia, Brazil, Malawi and the Philippines.  PROGRAM COUNTRIES include not only Brazil, Malawi and the Philippines, but also Haiti, Sudan, Uganda, Tanzania and South Africa.

EI stands at a crossroads of opportunity, seeking to improve both the impact and the reach of our ministry.  It is the responsibility of the International Office, led by the International Director, to:

  • Keep the global EI family unified and focused on our mission.
  • Develop administrative systems for coordinated international activity.
  • Guide future growth, so we may help many more churches to serve many, many more people.

Emmanuel means “God with us.” He has promised to go with us as we fulfill His commandments.  We invite you to join with us, that many more needy people will truly experience Him for themselves.
